MicroLux Microcement FAQs
What is MicroLux Microcement? +
MicroLux Microcement is a high-performance, customizable, and durable surface coating made from a blend of cement, fine aggregates, and advanced resins. At just 4-5mm thick, it seamlessly adheres to a wide range of existing surfaces, including tiles, cement, and carpentry, without requiring joints. Its flexible composition allows for various textures and colors, achieved by adjusting sand sizes, pigments, and application techniques. Whether used on walls or floors, MicroLux Microcement delivers a sleek, modern aesthetic while maintaining exceptional resistance to cracks, wear, and water exposure, making it a superior choice for both residential and commercial spaces.
What is the difference between microcement and limewash plaster? +
Microcement is a durable, floor-grade material designed to withstand tough scratches, making it ideal for high-traffic areas. Limewash plaster, on the other hand, is a wall-grade material primarily used for decorative purposes. While both can achieve a similar aesthetic, their applications differ significantly based on surface requirements.
How do I maintain microcement? +
For daily cleaning, use a damp cloth with a mild detergent. For deeper cleaning, a degreaser works best. Floors with microcement should have their polyurethane varnish Top Coat recoated every 5 years to maintain durability and appearance. PanelCraft offers professional recoating services to keep your surfaces in top condition.
Where does Microlux come from? +
Our MicroLux Microcement uses advanced German technology and formulations, ensuring exceptional performance, durability, and quality. The product is manufactured in state-of-the-art facilities in China that follow strict German quality standards.
This is very similar to how Apple designs its products in California but manufactures them in China, or how Samsung develops technology in Korea but produces many components in China. Manufacturing in China allows us to keep prices competitive while still delivering a product that meets rigorous European standards.
With MicroLux, you’re getting German engineering precision with efficient, high-quality production, resulting in a premium product at excellent value.
Does MicroLux Microcement Crack? +
Unlike other coatings, Microlux Microcement is exceptionally durable and resistant to cracking. Its properties remain intact over time, making it a long-lasting solution. MicroLux microcement withstands heavy traffic, impacts, scratches, and sunlight, among other challenges, ensuring its resilience and longevity.
Is MicroLux Microcement Waterproof? +
MicroLux Microcement is waterproof and durable, but it needs to be applied correctly to achieve its complete waterproofing properties. The MicroLux microcement is applied in several layers, with the addition of a sealant, to achieve that it is fully waterproof and sealed.
Can I use microcement on bathroom walls? +
Absolutely! Microcement is a superior choice for bathroom walls due to its easy-to-clean, seamless surface and durability in wet areas. It offers a modern aesthetic while being more hygienic and easier to maintain compared to tiles.

MicroLux Microcement includes a comprehensive 5-year warranty covering the following:
- Waterproofing Protection: Coverage against leaks, water damage, or moisture-related issues.
- Structural Crack Repair: Includes assessment and professional repair of structural cracks due to material quality.

When to do MicroLux Microcement? +
- Microcement is typically applied during the final stages of renovation, just before the last coat of paint, the installation of carpentry, and the placement of sanitary fittings.
- This sequencing ensures that the microcement finish remains pristine and undamaged by subsequent construction activities.
- Applying microcement at the end of the renovation process offers several advantages:
- Surface Preparation: Ensuring all underlying work is finished provides a stable and clean substrate for the microcement, promoting better adhesion and durability.
- Aesthetic Consistency: Applying microcement last allows for a seamless integration with final design elements, ensuring a cohesive look.
- Therefore, it's advisable to schedule microcement application after major renovation activities but before the final cleaning and installation of fixtures.
How durable is the PU topcoat applied over microcement? +
We apply a high-performance PU (polyurethane) topcoat in 2 layers over our microcement finishes. This coating achieves a surface hardness of 4H–5H on the pencil hardness scale, which means it offers strong scratch resistance and durability for both floors and walls. It's suitable for residential and light commercial use.
However, like all decorative finishes, care is still needed to prevent damage from sharp or heavy objects. We recommend the use of felt pads under furniture, avoid dragging items across the floor, and clean with non-abrasive materials.
